David Laibson named Harvard College Professor
Professor David Laibson has been named as a Harvard College Professor this spring. He joins Virginie Greene, professor of Romance languages and literatures; Douglas Melton, Thomas Dudley Cabot Professor of the Natural Sciences; Steven Pinker, Johnstone Family Professor of Psychology; John Shaw, Harry C. Dudley Professor of Structural and Economic Geology; and James Simpson, Donald P. and Katherine B. Loker Professor of English.
The Harvard College Professorships honor the achievements of those who, in addition to the research activities, have demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching and have made significant contributions to advising and mentoring students.
The five-year appointments provide support for professional development, either in the form of research funding or summer salary. There are a total of 24 Harvard College Professorships. The appointments were established in 1997 with support from a gift made by John and Frances Loeb.
